About

Pelham Rec Soccer offers a spring soccer program that includes Rec Soccer games, practices, and clinics. The program includes uniforms that are handed out at the first practice, and players keep their uniforms. Each child is expected to bring a proper sized soccer ball to each practice and a water bottle to every game and practice.

• Ages: 4–8 years old
• Schedule: Spring season with sessions on April 18, April 25, May 2, May 9, May 16, and May 30; registration runs January 26–April 1; games for grades 1–2 are 40 minutes, grades 3–4 are 50 minutes, and grades 5–7 are 60 minutes

Pelham Rec Soccer states a mission that emphasizes positive coaching, open registration, balanced teams, good sportsmanship, everyone plays, and supportive parents. The spring soccer program is open to children in grades Pre-K to 2nd who live or attend school in Pelham, and Pre-K players must live in Pelham. Registration for the Spring 2026 Rec Soccer season opens on January 26, 2026, and is completed online using the registration link, where families may use the notes field to indicate teammate and coach preferences and whether a child plays Travel Soccer. The program notes that it endeavors to honor teammate and coach requests when forming team rosters, but if a family signs up after August 15, teammate and coach requests cannot be considered.

Program rules state that games must start on time and late-starting games may be shortened, with a whistle stopping play at the end of the 1st and 3rd quarters and a 5-minute halftime break. Substitutions are permitted only at quarter end and halftime and during the fourth quarter, and all players must play at least two full quarters. All players must wear soccer cleats, shin guards, and soccer socks to practices, games, and clinics, with soccer socks covering shin guards. Baseball shoes and “all sports” shoes are not permitted, sneakers are permitted for kindergartners and Pre-K, and jewelry of any kind is not allowed, with no exceptions for newly pierced ears. Referees conduct a pre-game check and strictly enforce attire and jewelry rules, and interfering or arguing with a referee can result in a forfeit and/or ejection from the field.

The program is run entirely by volunteers, and parents are asked to consider signing up as a coach or assistant coach, with coaching plans provided for coaches. Leadership is listed as Co-Commissioners, who can be contacted via [email protected], along with the Pelham Rec Soccer Board and the Pelham Rec Department at 914.738.0153. For rainy weather information, families are directed to check the website, call the Fields Hotline at 914-738-6644, or look for a red flag posted at the field.
