Camp Hillard offers swimming, sports, creative arts, performing arts, specialty activities, and special events. Campers also take part in indoor sports games, movies, music, theater, nature activities, gymnastics, arts & crafts, and weekly cookouts.
• Ages: 3–13 years old
• Schedule: Camp dates for Summer 2026 are Monday, June 29th through Thursday, August 20th, with camp closed on Friday, July 3rd.
Camp Hillard was founded in 1929 by Morris and Hannah Libman and is described as Westchester's first day camp, with a tradition of excellence that spans four generations of single family ownership. It is celebrating 98 years of camping excellence and is noted as the 2nd oldest privately owned day camp in the United States.
The camp’s staff is described as carefully selected, mature, caring, and well-organized, and the program is led by a 30-member Leadership Team composed of teachers, educators, and leaders in the field of camping, including Directors Jon Libman, Jim Libman, and Kathleen Libman. Camp Hillard has an on-site Health Center staffed by RNs and Nurse's Assistants, and all transportation vehicles are professionally driven, air conditioned, equipped with seat belts and 2-way radios, and supervised by camp staff.
The total program is carefully planned to balance swimming and sports instruction with creative and performing arts, specialty activities, and special events, and campers are placed in small groups so that children receive individual attention. The camp has superb indoor buildings that allow for worthwhile and enjoyable days in all weather, and a professional kitchen staff provides daily menus with a variety of lunches and afternoon refreshments, including weekly cookouts.
Camp Hillard is accredited and approved by the American Camping Association and has received the highest ratings for quality standards of program, staffing, and facility. It has a permit to operate issued by the New York State Department of Health and is inspected twice annually by the Westchester County Department of Health, with all inspection reports filed with the Department of Health.
Camp Hillard serves families from Manhattan, Brooklyn, Riverdale, and throughout Westchester County and the Greenwich, CT area, and provides daily transportation from Manhattan, Riverdale, Greenwich, CT, and all of Westchester County. The camp shares the mission statement from founder Morris N. Libman: “Camp Hillard is a place where our entire thoughts and energies are wrapped up in the health, happiness and well-being of every child.”
One parent testimonial states that their daughters “had the best time,” describing “every single aspect” of the summer as “flawless,” and highlighting the theater performance, swim, sports, and the daily bus ride as “amazing.”
