Shake it Off opened its doors in 2021 and later moved, in the winter of 2023, into a beautifully renovated 4,000 square foot facility. The program describes itself as a premier Westchester-based enrichment center with a dynamic assortment of classes, events, camps, afterschool care, and hands-on DIY art sessions tailored for children between 6 months and eight years old. Its teaching methodology is described as customized to nurture early socialization and foster positive developmental experiences. The mission statement says that Shake it Off is committed to nurturing the unique abilities of every child and empowering them to shake off any barriers limiting their growth.

Shake it Off is led by Founder, CEO, and Director Ramya Gunashekar-Allan and Communications Assistant Monique B. Ramya Gunashekar-Allan has a Masters degree in Education and experience as a pre-K teacher, including time at a Montessori school. The program has been featured on News 12. Shake it Off also notes involvement with Girl Scouts through “Girl Scouts & Shake it Off.”

Families describe birthday parties at Shake it Off as customizable, with options such as painting on canvas followed by a movement activity, and mention that parties can be tailored for different ages and include props for the movement and dance portions. One parent reports that rescheduling a party due to a blizzard was handled easily, including reorganizing staff and catering. Parents also describe the dance, ballet, and Science/Art classes as engaging and age-appropriate, and mention that children talk about the classes at home, sing the songs, and repeat the dances. Another parent notes that their child attended an entire week-long STEM camp, made many friends, and that staff were friendly and good with young children. Multiple parents mention that they plan to continue taking classes and booking birthday parties at Shake it Off.
