About
DNA Learning Center Science Camps and Programs include in-person lab field trips, hands-on labs in state-of-the-art laboratory classrooms, museum tours, and Saturday DNA! programs. The program offers camps and courses on topics such as Fun with DNA, Genome Science, and Forensic Detectives, as well as virtual science camps on genetics and inheritance, PCR, and electrophoresis. Students and families can also access DNALC LIVE! video programming, virtual lab field trips, Ötzi tours, and student research programs that include authentic research and participation in the Citizen DNA Barcode Network.
• Schedule: The Dolan DNA Learning Center is open to the public Monday–Friday, 10 am–4 pm, and is closed on Saturday and Sunday except on Saturdays when Ötzi tours or Saturday DNA! programs are offered.
Since 1988, the DNA Learning Center has focused on advancing genetics education through laboratory experiences for students and educators in New York and beyond. It has over 37 years of experience in molecular biology and genetics education, and more than 750,000 middle and high school students have taken part in its hands-on science instruction over the last 35+ years. The DNA Learning Center is described as world-renowned and also runs educator training workshops in biotechnology and genetics, media-rich educational sites and animations on topics from cancer to eugenics, and lab and bioinformatics sites on subjects such as human origins and RNA-sequencing. Community involvement includes the DNALC Partners in STEM Center at Arecibo Observatory and the Citizen DNA Barcode Network, which engages community research teams in using DNA barcoding to explore biodiversity.
