Boys & Girls Clubs of the Capital Area Youth Programs are operated by Boys & Girls Clubs of the Capital Area, a 501c3 non-profit organization led by CEO Patrick Doyle. The organization’s mission is to inspire and enable young people, especially those who need it most, to realize their full potential to become productive, caring, responsible citizens. Boys & Girls Clubs of Albany and Troy Boys & Girls Club merged in 2019 to become Boys & Girls Clubs of the Capital Area, which has served young people in Albany and Troy for more than 130 years. Since 1998, the organization has operated Universal Pre-Kindergarten classes in partnership with the Albany School District, and since 2014 it has operated a licensed kitchen that now feeds more than 200,000 youth annually through Club operations and other community youth organizations.

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Capital Area serves more than 1,000 youth in Albany and Rensselaer counties and operates in 26 classrooms in Albany, Cohoes, and Watervliet. The organization is supported with funding from Rensselaer County and the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, and it also receives community support from local unions and partner organizations. Boys & Girls Clubs of the Capital Area holds a Gold standard from Candid and a Four-Stars rating from Charity Navigator.

Programs follow Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s research-based Formula for Impact as a guide for programming at all Club locations. Activities are organized into five core areas: character and leadership development, health and life skills, the arts, sports, fitness and recreation, and education and career. Together, these core areas focus on three priority outcomes: academic success, good character and leadership, and healthy lifestyles, and the Club promotes healthy lifestyles through programs that focus on the mind, body, and soul. BGCCA programs provide access to academic success, caring mentors, healthy meals, and exposure to sports, technology, and the arts.
