About
A Kid Again Adventures offers cost-free, carefree family outings called Adventures. Families take part in trips to amusement parks, sporting events, and zoos, as well as outings at theme parks, entertainment centers, and museums. Everything needed for these Adventures, including admission, food, and parking, is provided.
• Price: Adventures are cost-free.
A Kid Again Adventures is connected with the A Kid Again National Office and includes leadership from Co-Founder Kathy Derr. The mission of A Kid Again Adventures is stated as giving joy back through cost-free Adventures where families laugh, connect, and feel “normal” again. Families, donors, and volunteers are part of a community of entertainment businesses, donors, and volunteers that enable accessible, family outings year-round.
In reported outcomes, 88% of families said they noticed improvement in the quality of life of their child after participating in A Kid Again Adventures. In addition, 79% of families reported feeling less depression, and 85% of kids said they feel a greater sense of acceptance from others and are less fearful of being in the public eye.
One family shared, “It’s the one day we don’t feel like the ‘sick family.’ We just get to be together, smile, and make memories like everyone else.” Donors Tom and Ann DiMarco said, “As the A Kid Again motto says; it’s hope, happiness, and healing. It’s just so rewarding to be involved.” Volunteer Kim Chappell said that after volunteering at a first A Kid Again Adventure almost 20 years ago, the big smiles on the kids’ faces and the joy of parents grateful for a fun day with their families was a true gift. Co-Founder Kathy Derr stated that every family deserves and needs support.
