A Kid Again offers cost-free Adventures that include trips to amusement parks, sporting events, and zoos, as well as outings to theme parks, entertainment centers, and museums. Specific Adventures have included the Houston Astros Adventure, the Valleyfair Adventure, the 18 Holes for Hope, Happiness, and Healing Golf Outing, and the Northern Ohio Gala. Adventures are described as carefree, fun, accessible, and stress-free outings for families raising a child with a life-threatening condition, and everything is provided at Adventures, including admission, food, and parking.

A Kid Again states that its mission is to give joy back through cost-free Adventures where families laugh, connect, and feel “normal” again. The organization describes its in-person Adventures as Cost Free/Care Free and also offers Virtual Adventures. The leadership and community around A Kid Again include Co-Founder Kathy Derr, donors Tom and Ann DiMarco, and volunteer Kim Chappell, along with a broader community of entertainment businesses, donors, and volunteers that enable accessible family outings year-round. One family shared that an Adventure is “the one day we don’t feel like the ‘sick family’” and that they “just get to be together, smile, and make memories like everyone else.” Donors Tom and Ann DiMarco described involvement with A Kid Again as “hope, happiness, and healing,” and volunteer Kim Chappell described being “hooked” after seeing “the big smiles on the kid’s faces and the joy of parents grateful for a fun day with their families.” Co-Founder Kathy Derr shared that, from her own experience, she believes “every family deserves” and needs support.
