Portage Learning Centers Head Start Preschool and Early Head Start offers Head Start Preschool, Early Head Start, and home-based programs. Head Start Preschool is a no-cost preschool for income-eligible children ages three to five who are not kindergarten eligible. Early Head Start is a no-cost early education program for infants, toddlers, and pregnant women, and it is home-based and center-based.

About the provider
Portage Learning Centers was incorporated in 1983. It was awarded the State and Federal Head Start programs for Portage County in 1997 and the Federal Early Head Start program in 2010. Its mission is to empower individuals and families to succeed by fostering dignity, self-worth, and personal goal achievement. All of its centers have received the Ohio Step Up to Quality Gold Award.
Head Start and Early Head Start are income-based programs. Families receiving SNAP benefits and homeless and foster children are automatically eligible. Twelve months of documented income must be provided. Proof of age is required for child applicants. Pregnant women do not need to provide proof of age or pregnancy.
