About

Camp Invention is a weeklong STEM experience where children take part in hands-on STEM adventures, hands-on challenges and open-ended adventures. Participants miniaturize top-secret innovations, safeguard their designs using cryptography, protect their intellectual property and time travel to ensure their ideas are patented and protected. They investigate a series of mischievous pranks, create sleuthing gadgets, collect bits of fluffy fur, reveal a trail of animal tracks, examine suspicious splatters and forensically analyze the evidence. Campers build confidence as they ride the waves of entrepreneurship, dive into hands-on buoyancy experiments, paddle their way through salty challenges, generate ideas for unique, innovative products, sketch, design and build prototypes and create an innovative billboard boat. They also build a DIY rocket, launch a mission to transform a faraway planet’s atmosphere, terrain and ecosystem, take part in a Rover Race to collect important data and samples, and design and build inventions for navigating the intense conditions of their planet. Along the way, they hatch a mysterious animal egg, encounter a crystal surprise and join in high-energy morning games that encourage creativity and teamwork. The 2026 Camp Invention program “Spark” includes multiple themed modules called Infringers, Fur-ensics, Make Waves and Space Morphers.

Camp Invention is led by qualified local educators. The education team collaborates with National Inventors Hall of Fame Inductees to create new program curricula each year, and the programs align with state and national education standards. The program is part of a broader set of education programs that combine hands-on fun and creativity with STEM concepts and include several programs promoting innovation for all ages in all communities.

Camp Invention is run by the National Inventors Hall of Fame, which has been honoring the spirit of innovation and promoting inventors as role models since 1973, impacting more than 4 million children, students, educators and innovators across the nation since it was founded in 1973. Its mission is to inspire emerging creators and entrepreneurs through its education programs and to honor the history of innovation through its museum and Hall of Fame Inductees. The organization’s leadership team includes Rachelle Albrechta (Director of Program Development), Jayme Cellitioci (Senior Director of Education), Ashley Giordano (Manager of Program Management), Susie Duchon (Education Specialist), Rachel Lutes (Curriculum Writer), Emily Mitchell (Senior Content Writer), Sara Pompeo (Editor), Maggie Saine (Spanish Services Lead & Education Specialist) and Jennifer Sitton (Director of Science & Product Development).

Camp Invention works in partnership with over 1,400 districts nationwide and in Puerto Rico over the past year and was founded and is supported in partnership with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. There are 2,144 philanthropic partners making STEM education more accessible. Over 1,500 Camp Invention programs run nationwide in schools, community centers and other local facilities, and some locations offer Before and After Care to fit families’ busy schedules.

Parents and caregivers describe a range of experiences at Camp Invention. Sonia S. says, “My daughter came home beaming with excitement, eager to share all the amazing things she was learning. She was so excited to bring her inventions home and teach her little brother about everything she learned. We are already signing up for next year.” Meghan M. says, “All three of my children attended camp this year and it was so amazing to see the learning from the youngest group to the oldest group. The conversations on the way home every day made me so happy!” Apryle S. explains, “My son is autistic and gifted. He loves your camp. It fostered her creativity and build her self-confidence!” Alexa N., a grandparent, says, “My grandchild gained knowledge, confidence, friends, a sense of cooperative learning, an openness to other's ideas, and an opportunity to have so much fun while learning!” Amanda H. notes, “My kiddo is typically hesitant to go to camp. But every morning of camp, he was up early with a smile and excited to go. He can’t wait to do it again!” Courtney S. says, “My 6-year-old struggles with focus in school and tends to forget that learning is fun. We have signed him up for Camp Invention the last 2 years and have seen his excitement for education grow, simply by doing hands-on activities and being fully engaged.” Beverly L. shares, “My son had zero complaints. That's very unusual for him. He loves all the hands-on creative play.” Tara T. describes, “My son recently attended Camp Invention, and it was an absolutely phenomenal experience for him. The camp’s focus on creativity, problem solving and innovation truly sparked his curiosity and imagination.” Amie J. says, “I had three kids in the program for the first time this year. On the first day they were all pretty skeptical if they would like it. After the second day they loved it. By the end of the program my oldest ... said his new hobby is inventing things!” Jenna M. notes, “I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect with this camp as it was our first time, but it exceeded our expectations. My son had the best time and was so excited to show off his inventions. It spiked his creativity and he made some friends in the process.” Jennifer M. shares, “This is the first time my son participated in anything like this before. I was concerned that he might not like it due to the long ... day, but he loved it. He said that he was never bored, that he enjoyed making the projects and he made friends.”
