About

Camp Invention is a weeklong STEM experience that includes hands-on STEM adventures, hands-on challenges and open-ended adventures. Participants miniaturize top-secret innovations, safeguard their designs using cryptography and time travel to ensure their ideas are patented and protected. They investigate a series of mischievous pranks, create sleuthing gadgets, collect bits of fluffy fur to reveal a trail of animal tracks, examine suspicious splatters and forensically analyze the evidence. Campers also conduct buoyancy experiments, paddle through salty challenges, sketch, design and build prototypes, create an innovative billboard boat, build a DIY rocket and launch a mission to transform a faraway planet’s atmosphere, terrain and ecosystem. They take part in a Rover Race to collect important data and samples, design and build inventions for navigating intense planetary conditions, hatch a mysterious animal egg, encounter a crystal surprise and join high-energy morning games that encourage creativity and teamwork.

Camp Invention is led by qualified local educators. The education team develops programs in collaboration with National Inventors Hall of Fame Inductees and aligns programs with state and national education standards. The 2026 Camp Invention program is called “Spark” and integrates invention education, Intellectual Property Literacy and entrepreneurship, and campers bring home one-of-a-kind take-home products. The program is part of an organization that has honored the spirit of innovation and promoted inventors as role models since 1973, impacting more than 4 million children, students, educators and innovators across the nation. It is founded and supported in partnership with the United States Patent and Trademark Office and has partnered with over 1,400 districts nationwide and in Puerto Rico over the past year, along with 2,144 philanthropic partners making STEM education more accessible.

The Camp Invention leadership and education team includes Rachelle Albrechta (Director of Program Development), Jayme Cellitioci (Senior Director of Education), Ashley Giordano (Manager of Program Management), Susie Duchon (Education Specialist), Rachel Lutes (Curriculum Writer), Emily Mitchell (Senior Content Writer), Sara Pompeo (Editor), Maggie Saine (Spanish Services Lead & Education Specialist) and Jennifer Sitton (Director of Science & Product Development).

Parents and caregivers describe their children coming home eager to share what they are learning, excited to bring inventions home and interested in inventing things as a new hobby. Several parents and grandparents report that their children or grandchildren gained confidence, made friends, enjoyed hands-on creative play and were excited to return each day. One parent of an autistic and gifted child states that Camp Invention has been wonderful for him to be around other kids who are creative and inventive and that it has helped his social skills. Multiple parents note that their children, including those who are typically hesitant about camp or who struggle with focus in school, were enthusiastic about attending, engaged in hands-on activities and looking forward to signing up again.
