The YMCA of Van Wert County Youth Programs, Sports, and Special Events offers Youth T-Ball/Baseball, Youth Soccer, Youth Golf, Youth Flag Football, Youth Volleyball, Bitty Ballers Basketball, School League Basketball, the MOMO Tournament, the King of the Court Basketball Tournament, and Santa Shootout. The program also includes a Camp Clay Aqua Park & Splash Pad with water attractions, floating mats, and a boating area with canoes, kayaks, SUPs, and pedal boats.
Programs
- Youth T-Ball/Baseball — 3-5 for T-ball; 6-8 for baseball · 6-week seasons; spring sports registration begins in March · Participants learn the basic rules of the game. Skills are taught based on age. The 6-week seasons take place at YMCA Camp Clay.
- Youth Soccer — 3-12 · 6-week youth program; spring and fall sports registration begins in March and August · At YMCA Camp Clay. Players learn age-appropriate skills, teamwork, and game basics in a fun, non-competitive environment focused on fundamentals.
- Youth Golf — 6-12 · One-week summer golf clinic; summer sports registration begins in June · Held at Hickory Sticks Golf Course. Participants are taught by a golf professional and learn the basic fundamentals.
- Youth Flag Football — 1st-6th grade · Registration opens in May and ends before school starts · Offered with the Van Wert Parks Department and Van Wert High School. Games are played at the Uptown Stadium in Van Wert.
- Youth Volleyball — 8-12 · 6-week season; winter sports registration begins in October · Provides a fun, supportive environment for learning the game. Teamwork is emphasized through age-appropriate practices and drills.
- Bitty Ballers Basketball — 3.5-K+; 1st-2nd grade · 6-week program; winter sports registration begins in October · Intergender Pre-K-K teams play Tuesdays on 7 ft rims. 1st-2nd grade teams play Thursdays on 8.5 ft rims.
- School League Basketball — 3rd-6th grade · 6-week season · $350 · Teams must register a full team from their school. Teams play two games every Saturday and the final week hosts a single elimination tournament.
- MOMO Tournament — grades 4-6 · 1-day/single elimination tournament · $175 · Annual memorial tournament for girls teams. Each grade is capped at 6 teams.
- King of the Court Basketball Tournament — grades 3-6 · 2-day tournament · $200 · For boys teams. Games are played over Saturday and Sunday and all teams are guaranteed 3 games. All boys must be from the same school. No AAU teams.
- Santa Shootout — 3rd-6th grade · $100 · $100 entry fee.

About the provider
The YMCA of Van Wert County has been part of the Van Wert community for over 114 years and has served the community since 1914. Its mission is to put Christian principals into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. The YMCA provides scholarships and partners with local groups like Special Olympics and local schools for athletic training. - Camp Clay Aqua Park & Splash Pad — Open 7 days a week starting Memorial Day until mid August; then weekends only · Features 7 water attractions, 3 floating mats, and a boating area with canoes, kayaks, SUPs, and pedal boats. The splash pad has spray features for all ages and is fully accessible.
The YMCA is not focused on wins and losses in its programs and is more focused on teaching youth skills and fun. Youth sports are described as non-competitive and fundamentals-focused.
