Impact Jiu Jitsu was founded in 1998 in Beaverton, Oregon and has since grown to 18 locations across multiple states. The academy is described as one of the best and largest Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academies of its kind in the Northwest and is home to more than 100 Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belts. Its mission states that dedication to personal growth, love of the sport, and respect for one another guide how it meets the needs of a wide array of students. The 3rd Annual Ronnie Root Invitational is an in-house Jiu Jitsu tournament for all levels, ages 5–17, in Gi, round robin, submission-only format, held each year in honor of Ronnie, described as a friend and fellow Jiu Jitsu lover. One hundred percent of the proceeds from this event are donated to the Mikalynn Morris Scholarship Fund for Suicide Awareness.
