YMCA Full Day Camps
Southeast Family YMCA, 9685 SW Harvest Court, Beaverton, OR 97005
About
YMCA Full Day Camps offer full-day programs that include STEM activities, physical activities, arts and crafts, group games, and other social development activities. Camp Collins, which is part of the YMCA camp offerings, features a tree top obstacle course, archery, a zip-line, and more. Enrichment camps within the program include STEM, arts, and cooking activities.
The camps are led by trained counselors and compassionate staff who guide an enriching curriculum. The YMCA of Columbia-Willamette states that its principles are defined as love, respect, honesty, responsibility, and service, and that its mission is to engage the entire person in spirit, mind, and body. The YMCA of Columbia-Willamette hosted its first meeting in 1868 in the basement of the First Presbyterian Church in downtown Portland. All YMCA Child Development Centers are licensed by the state of Oregon or Washington and maintain all licensing guidelines, and all YMCA Full Day Camps (excluding Camp Collins) are approved providers that can accept Employment Related Day Care (Oregon) and Working Connections Child Care (Washington) funding sources. Assistance is available to qualified participants because the YMCA states that everyone deserves a chance to be a community member regardless of an individual’s ability to pay. Community involvement connected to the YMCA includes the Sherwood Food Pantry at the Sherwood Y, a blood drive with the American Red Cross, the Y Cares Mission, food support, volunteer opportunities, and options to donate and help families. A parent testimonial reports that participation in YMCA summer programs had a positive impact on their family and that the parent was grateful for a place for their son to socialize, make new friends, and take part in thoughtful, enriching activities each day.
