Academie de Ballet Classique offers classes in Ballet, Hip-Hop, Pointe, Contemporary, Lyrical, Contemporary Jazz, Modern Dance, and Silver Swans. Academie de Ballet Classique has been in operation for 20 years. The studio is an Approved Examination Center for the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and is a certified member of the Royal Academy of Dance. The RAD is recognized to award qualifications of the Regulated Qualifications Framework of the United Kingdom by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations (Ofqual). The mission of Académie de Ballet Classique is to provide comprehensive ballet education for all ages, from children to adults, with programs tailored to different skill levels, including pointe, contemporary, and lyrical dance, with a focus on creativity, discipline, and artistry in a welcoming environment, and to empower dancers through expert instruction.
The Petites Etoiles program for ages 2–7 years includes five levels that are crafted for each age. The Etoiles Brilliantes program for ages 8 through adults includes eight levels of graded ballet from fundamental to intermediate. The Les Etoiles program for ages 11 through adult includes Ballet, Pointe, Contemporary, or Lyrical. The Silver Swan Adults option is dance for adults. ABCBend dancers are described by the studio as learning responsibility and accountability while enjoying their passion for dance, and the studio notes that it brings decades of professional ballet dance performance, teaching experience, and certifications.
The leadership and staff team includes Founder and Director Valerie Holgers (RAD RTS, RAD Teacher’s Certification Mentor, former professional dancer, qualified in both executant and teacher exams in the Royal Academy of Dance, bachelor of arts degree with a double major of arts, registered RAD teacher since 1974); Senior Instructor and Choreographer Jennifer Gray (has danced and sung professionally around the globe, graduate of Performers College in London, England, earned a teacher’s qualification with the ISTD and NATD in Imperial Classical Ballet and Modern Dance); Senior Instructor and Choreographer Lindsey Clements (was an honor dancer in Regional Dance America, has taught dance at Performing Arts Abroad in San Jose and at Danzay in Costa Rica, graduate of Point Park University, studied at Alonzo King LINES Ballet’s summer intensive and the Utah Regional Ballet); General Manager Na Spakousky (uses her accounting background and parent point of view to support the studio and staff, first became an ABCBend parent in 2013, joined the team in 2016); Concierge Assistant Teresa Blackman (uses her creative skills to help parents navigate their child’s dance journey, has two children enrolled in multiple classes); Ms. Brittany (began dancing at age 2 in a Chicago suburb, competed with Lomastro Performing Arts Academy, was captain of the Lake Forest Varsity Dance Team, led her team to UDA Nationals with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes, now teaches at ABC and Sunriver Dance Studio, and is Head Coach of the Mountain View Dance Team, which she recently led to historic 1st and 2nd place finishes); and Katlynn Spakousky (ABCBend).
