About
R.A.D. Camps offers outdoor adventures that include swimming, hiking, fishing, caving, playing games, building forts, capture the flag, team-building, and leadership training. Each adventure is guided by R.A.D. Guides who have several years of experience working with youth and focus on exploring the outdoors while being “impact free.” All adventures are guided by “Leave No Trace” principles and follow a free-play outdoor adventure model.

The program states a mission to deliver adventure experiences for families in Central Oregon grounded in sustainability and education, fostering a lifelong love for the outdoors through free play and exploration. The leadership team includes Chance Caruso, R.A.D. Camps Owner.
R.A.D. Camps operates under a special use permit with the Deschutes and Willamette National Forests and promotes the motto “No Child Left Inside!” while helping promote the No Child Left Inside Act passed by Congress in 2009. Thump Coffee provides a free coffee bar throughout the season for parents.
Parent testimonials describe children spending days hiking, swimming, caving, fishing, holding snakes, finding crawdads, and meeting frogs, and note experiences such as learning to identify plants and animals and becoming more connected with nature. Families also describe low staff-to-child ratios, guides who are attentive and energetic, and children returning for multiple summers with siblings joining in future years.
