Its stated mission is: “Put kids first by serving our clubs to provide a safe, positive, and forward-thinking soccer environment.” As a member of US Soccer and US Youth Soccer, Oregon Youth Soccer, along with the support of its members, provides tools and resources to further develop coaches, clubs, referees, and parents so that kids thrive on and off the field.

OYSA reports 94 Member Clubs and Affiliates, 57,235 recreational and competitive soccer players, and 1,863 referees.

The organization states that it provides recreational and competitive soccer opportunities for players of all ages, genders, and skill levels and is the only soccer organization in Oregon that offers a diverse range of services and innovative programs to meet the needs of membership clubs with varied abilities, backgrounds, and financial means. Soccer in Oregon under OYSA is divided into nine districts, each represented by a District Director. District Directors are nominated and elected by the member clubs within their districts at the OYSA Annual General Meeting and are limited to a maximum of two three-year terms. OYSA Officers and Directors serve a three-year term and are elected at OYSA’s Annual General Meeting, which the association conducts as required of every state association under the U.S. Soccer Federation.

OYSA invites teams to compete in a range of tournaments with professional officiating and what it describes as top-notch facilities. The Referee Program offers training and certification for a course fee of $90. OYSA states that it focuses on safety both on the field and off as the number one priority. The organization also offers a free job listing page for any soccer-related organization in the state of Oregon.

OYSA reports that it sends staff and scouts into small communities for talent identification for ODP and coach education workshops. It invests in technology and hybrid training access through tools like video analysis, remote coaching support, and scheduled regional events. The organization creates league pathways that do not require daily travel or relocation, including interlocking schedules and festival-style competitions, and it supports soccer in remote and rural communities, including towns such as Burns, La Grande, Klamath Falls, Brookings, John Day, Enterprise, Prineville, Ontario, and Coos Bay.
