JumpstART offers hands-on art instruction in drawing, painting, sequential art, graphic design, and photography. Students take part in visiting artist lectures, evening activities, and a camp orientation and pizza party as part of the program schedule.

• Schedule: One-week session from June 22–27, 2025, with daily classes and activities
• Price: Non-residential tuition (day camp only): $650; Residential tuition (housing and dining included): $1400; Optional meal card for day camp lunches M–F: $65
JumpstART provides students in grades 9–12 with instruction led by university art and graphic design instructors and graduates of their program. The program leadership team includes JumpstART Director Anna Fidler, Assistant to the Director Comet Robinson, Graphic Design Program Coordinator at OSU Rick Febre, and artist and arts instructor Johnny Beaver. Students participate in two three-hour courses each day plus a visiting artist lecture, and all meals are taken as a group in the dining halls. The program maintains a 10:1 student-to-RA ratio in the dorms for overnight students, with RAs located in close proximity to their assigned cohorts, and students are always in the company of JumpstART staff during evening activities. High achieving participants at the 2025 program may receive a full scholarship to return to JumpstART in 2026.
JumpstART 2025 takes place from June 22–27, with mornings from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., lunch from 12 to 1 p.m., an artist talk at 1 p.m., and afternoon courses from 2 to 5 p.m., followed by evening activities from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Dorm check-in is on Sunday, June 22, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., and the camp orientation and pizza party is on Sunday, June 22, at 5 p.m. Day camp students may bring a bag lunch or purchase a dining card for meals.
JumpstART instructors and staff have a range of professional and academic experience. Director Anna Fidler is an artist and instructor in Corvallis, Oregon, who attended Interlochen Arts Academy and Western Michigan University (B.F.A. Painting) and received an M.F.A. in Studio Art from Portland State University; her work has been exhibited in New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Washington, D.C., and at institutions including The Portland Art Museum’s APEX series, The Boise Art Museum, The Everhart Museum of Natural History, Science, and Art, The University of Southern California, and The Japan Society in New York. Her exhibitions have been reviewed in Art in America, The Washington Post, and The San Francisco Chronicle, and she has received an Oregon Arts Commission Individual Artist Fellowship, a Regional Arts and Culture Council Project Grant, and residencies at Painting’s Edge in Idyllwild, California; she is represented by Charles A. Hartman Fine Art in Portland, Oregon, and Johansson Projects in Oakland, California. Assistant to the Director Comet Robinson is pursuing a B.F.A. in Graphic Design at OSU with minors in Spanish and Studio Art, works as the graphic designer for the OSU Division of Finance and Administration IT supporting OSU Transportation Services and efforts with the City of Corvallis, and specializes in brand identity and typography. Instructor Johnny Beaver is an artist and arts instructor living in Corvallis, Oregon, who received his B.F.A. at Oregon State University with a concentration in painting and his M.F.A. at Portland State University focusing on contemporary studio practice; his creative work is research focused, highlighting painting and sound design and branching into multidisciplinary areas, and he has exhibited and curated in Oregon over fifty times throughout the last decade. Graphic Design Program Coordinator Rick Febre is a designer and educator who has worked in publication design, print, web, advertising, and advertising photography, and his works in publication design have been recognized by Graphic Design USA magazine.
