Eugene Science Center was founded in 1961 as the southwest branch of the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI), was incorporated in 1977 as the Willamette Science & Technology Center (WISTEC), and opened in its current location in January 1980. The name “Science Factory” was adopted in 2002 and then changed to Eugene Science Center in 2018. Its mission is to inspire scientific curiosity and foster critical thinking about the universe and our place in it. Eugene Science Center is Lane County's only hands-on science museum and planetarium and offers special events and programs that come to families and groups year-round. The primary brand color is YInMn Blue, with orange and green as complementary brand colors based on the same pigment chemistry, and the brand icon is a creative twist of the Fibonacci sequence.
