Outdoor Education Adventures offers environmental education programs that include camps, nature walks, school field trips, enrichment programs, classroom programs, and in-class nature programs. The program also runs Nature Play Adventures, all-ages events, nature journaling activities, and the Nature Preschool at Maple Grove, which uses an inquiry-based curriculum that emerges from students’ curiosity and motivation. Outdoor Education Adventures started as Watershed Education Adventures (WEA) in 2012 by Theresa Crain, and in 2015 Neyssa Hays joined WEA. Early in 2017, Theresa and Neyssa created Outdoor Education Adventures, LLC, and in 2020 the organization began transitioning to a nonprofit, adding a Board of Directors. In October 2020, the IRS declared Outdoor Education Adventures exempt from federal income tax under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3).
In 2015, the team received the Frieda L Miller Conservation Educator Award from the Yamhill Soil and Water Conservation District. The organization has also received grants from the Yamhill Watershed Stewardship Fund, Spirit Mountain Community Fund, and the Oregon Wildlife Foundation. Outdoor Education Adventures regularly partners with other organizations in Yamhill County, including the Yamhill Soil and Water Conservation District, the Yamhill Watershed Stewardship Fund, McMinnville Parks and Recreation, and school districts around the county.
