About

Avid4 Adventure Day Camps – Portland Adventure Camp introduces kids to mountain biking, rock climbing, hiking, stand up paddleboarding, kayaking, and teambuilding activities. The one-week Adventure summer camp centers on authentic local settings where 2nd–7th graders create outdoor experiences, with every day focused on a different activity such as stand up paddleboarding, hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, or kayaking. Every challenge is calibrated to campers' age and ability, and campers are grouped by grade range so first-time and returning Adventure campers can build on their skills and confidence year after year.

• Ages: 7–12 years old
• Schedule: One-week sessions, Monday–Friday, regular camp hours 9 AM–3 PM with extended hours available 8 AM–6 PM
• Price: One Week Price $740; Early Drop Off (starting at 8 AM) $40; After Care (3–6 PM) $115; Avid4 merch available with prices varying

At this camp, 2nd–4th graders concentrate on getting comfortable with new activities with support from staff and returning campers, while 5th–7th graders focus more on teamwork, mentorship, and deepening technical competence. Avid4 Adventure provides transportation for campers to recreation areas for each adventure sport and returns them to the meeting place for afternoon pick up, and also provides transportation to and from recreation areas in general. Campers use professional-caliber, top-of-the-line gear specifically sized for kids, and can bring their own bikes or borrow from the camp’s fleet, which accommodates campers of any size.

The program’s mission states that Avid4 Adventure believes in the transformative power of the outdoors and that kids build confidence, make new friends, and master essential skills in activities like paddling, biking, rock climbing, and hiking. Instructors are described as insatiable outdoors experts who love adventuring and working with kids, are all 18 and older, and have serious safety and skills training. The leadership team is headed by David Secunda, former president of the Outdoor Industry Association and a 25-year veteran of the outdoor education industry.

Avid4 Adventure is accredited by the American Camp Association, is a Certified B Corp committed to public transparency and accountability, and has been named among Colorado Parent’s Top 5 Sports Camps. The organization operates under a Special Use authorization from the National Forest Service. The camp is backed by the Avid4 Adventure Guarantee, which promises an authentic outdoor adventure, well-trained and professional staff, and increased confidence, and states that if these promises are not met, the next Avid4 Adventure camp is free. Discounts include a multi-session/sibling discount of $25 off per session after the first, a referral program where families can give friends $50 off their first camp and receive a $50 coupon for a future 2026 camp after purchase, and a $65 service discount for qualifying professions.

According to parent testimonials, one parent reported that this was their daughter’s favorite camp and that she learned to ride a bike without training wheels during camp, later becoming fully able to ride after two more park trips. Another parent described the staff as mature, responsible, and excited to share their passion with kids, and said the program is well run and that kids learn new outdoor skills. A third parent said their kids had the best time at camp, were active every day, and continued talking about the experience over a month later.
