Explorer Camp is part of Avid4 Adventure, whose mission states that kids build confidence, make new friends, and master essential skills in activities like paddling, biking, rock climbing, and hiking, and that the organization was created to give kids a love of outdoor activity and to support future caretaking of the planet. The program offers a camper-to-staff ratio of 5:1, provides transportation to and from recreation areas, and gives campers access to top-of-the-line gear specifically sized for kids. Every day is described as thoughtfully balanced with creative pursuits such as yoga, art, and music, and every activity starts with a discussion about the risks involved, how to prevent them, and how to respond if something goes wrong. Families are encouraged to send a bike from home for biking day and to remove any training wheels before camp.

Instructors are described as incredibly well-trained and professional staff, all 18 and older, with serious safety and skills training and extensive outdoor expertise, and they are noted as the top point of positive feedback from parents. The leadership team is headed by founder David Secunda, a former president of the Outdoor Industry Association and a 25-year veteran of the outdoor education industry. Avid4 Adventure states that it does everything in its power to keep kids safe while allowing calculated, well-communicated risks, and that programs evolve as campers grow from age 3 through 17, including progression from Pre-K through a first summer job.

Explorer Camp is backed by the Avid4 Adventure Guarantee, which promises an authentic outdoor adventure, incredibly well-trained and professional staff, increased confidence, and a customer experience that exceeds expectations, with a free next camp if these promises are not met. The organization is accredited by the American Camp Association, is a Certified B Corp, and has been named among Colorado Parent’s Top 5 Sports Camps. Avid4 Adventure operates under a Special Use authorization from the National Forest Service.

Available discounts and incentives include a multi-session and sibling discount of $25 off per session after the first, a referral program that gives friends $50 off their first camp and provides a $50 coupon for a future 2026 camp when they enroll, and a $65 service discount for qualifying professions. Parent testimonials describe campers learning to ride a bike without training wheels, being eager to share what they learned each day, and talking about camp weeks later.
