BettBakes Baking Classes focuses on hands-on baking, including Shortcrust Pastry and Meringue-Based Desserts. The program is a one-woman operation that also connects baking with the Portuguese language and the Azores Islands. BettBakes offers classes, books, recipe coaching, and team-building events.
BettBakes was born in 2020. The leadership is provided by Elizebett, who is a writer, instructor, and consultant, and who teaches baking classes and ESOL classes at Portland Community College. Her credentials include a Masters Degree in Public Administration, over 12 years of experience in executive leadership and building collaborative teams, and over 20 years of baking in home kitchens.
BettBakes also offers bilingual books for kids, including Baking ABC - English / Portuguese and Contar Numa Cozinha Portuguesa | Counting in a Portuguese Kitchen. Author and Emmy-nominated host Maria Lawton, the Azorean Greenbean, said Baking ABC is “a winner.” BettBakes acknowledges support from community-minded people and businesses such as Azorean Green Bean - Maria Lawton, LiveLuso, PALCUS, Portugalia Marketplace, Tribuna Portuguesa, and KGW's Hello Rose City.
