Bridgetown Conservatory of Musical Theatre offers acting, dance, and vocal performance training with a focus on triple-threat musical theatre skills. The program includes musical theatre productions and performances, triple-threat workshops, and a musical theatre vocal performance workshop. It also offers college musical theatre audition preparation through a structured College Prep program.

Bridgetown Conservatory of Musical Theatre was launched in 2017, after presenting its first Broadway musical theatre vocal performance workshop in 2016, and opened its first full triple-threat training term in 2017. In 2021 it added a triple-threat program focused on adults, and in 2024 musical theatre productions and performances became an additional facet of the program. The organization is a 501(c)3 nonprofit and was invited in 2024 to fill an education and performance void in Salem, Oregon after the dissolution of Enlightened Theatrics, leading to the launch of Salem Bridgetown Conservatory following a summer of monthly triple-threat workshops.
Instructors are industry professionals with credits on Broadway, Off-Broadway, National Tours, and more. Founder Rick Lewis is the resident music director for Portland Center Stage and previously worked professionally in New York City for 15 years as a music director, pianist, and arranger, with credits including Off-Broadway and cabaret performances, pre-Broadway workshops of SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE and THE LIFE, Disney Live Theatrical’s THE BEST OF DISNEY, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade, cruise line productions, and writing and arranging the Off-Broadway musical THE TAFFETAS. The mission of Bridgetown Conservatory is to provide professional triple-threat training in acting, dance, and vocal performance, taught by industry professionals, in a challenging and supportive environment that creates the opportunity for successful college entrance and/or career entry and advancement within the theatre industry.
The youth program focuses on students ages 12 to 19, and there is an adult triple-threat class for adults ages 20 and up. Bridgetown Conservatory reports a 95% acceptance rate to top tier college musical theatre programs around the world, with most students receiving 3 to 7 offers, and states that it has helped over 80 graduating high school students gain entrance into such programs. The College Prep program consists of three 8-week terms that provide training and tools targeted at successful college musical theatre audition success.
Bridgetown Conservatory presents a season of musicals and performances that began with the world premiere of “Ludlow Ladd: the Poor Little Orphan Boy,” a reworked version of the 1979 Off-Broadway operetta spoof. Its 2024 season included musical revues such as “A GRAND NIGHT FOR SINGING,” “SONDHEIM TRIBUTE REVUE,” and “DOGFIGHT.” In August 2024 it launched “A TASTE OF BROADWAY,” a 5-day triple-threat workshop with working Broadway professionals. Planned 2025 performances include “MAKE ME A SONG,” “THE LIGHTNING THIEF (Wam2025 performance camp),” and “THE WORLD ACCORDING TO SNOOPY.” Productions focus on young performers portraying young characters rather than junior versions of adult musicals, and casting defers to Bridgetown students when possible.
