About

Friendly House Summer Camps are activities-based day camps for elementary-age kids. The camps take place at a nonprofit community center and social service agency that offers a full-court gymnasium and a fully equipped workout room. Families also have access to Community Nights, which include family-friendly activities and free use of the community center facilities every Friday night.

• Ages: 5–11 years old
• Schedule: Community center hours Monday–Thursday 7am–7pm, Friday 7am–8pm, Saturday 8:30am–4pm; preschool hours Monday–Friday 8am–2:15pm with extended childcare until 6pm
• Price: Services are offered for free or on a sliding scale.

Friendly House states that all are welcome and that it provides programs and services for everyone from preschoolers to older adults. Its mission is to create a thriving community by connecting people of all ages and backgrounds through quality educational, recreational, and other life-sustaining services. The organization is led by Executive Mya Chamberlin. Friendly House is silver-level certified by the City of Portland’s Sustainability at Work program and holds the America’s Best Charities Seal of Excellence. Community outreach programming includes dedicated programs for low-income communities through a partnership with Home Forward. One after school parent shared, “We appreciate the warm welcome and sense of community. We feel very grateful our child is part of Friendly House.” Free access to showers is available from 6–8pm on Friday nights, with the last chance to sign up at 7pm.
