About

Journey to STEAM offers hands-on robotics, coding, LEGO Engineering, and hands-on science activities, including Coding with Scratch and LEGO education programs. The program uses a project-based STEAM methodology with collaborative activities so students learn by doing, and it also features in-school STEAM labs, special programs, and district-wide after-school expansions. Journey to STEAM can also support setting up a maker space or tech-forward learning lab and brings in guest speakers from local tech, engineering, and arts fields.

• Ages: 5–12 years old

Journey to STEAM began in 2023. The program delivers hands-on STEM programs across the Pacific Northwest in partnership with families, schools, districts, and community organizations. It offers customized solutions that range from after-school programs for parents to full-scale summer camps and day programs for districts, along with dynamic after-school programs, enriching camps, and customized educational experiences for elementary school students.

The curriculum is led by experienced educators, and the team includes certified teachers and professionals with years of classroom and administrative experience. Fewer than 10 percent of applicants are hired as instructors, and each instructor receives hands-on training and coaching from founder Dr. Arielle Hammond, a former school principal with over a decade of experience leading schools, coaching teachers, and designing curriculum. The program uses a flexible and ever-evolving curriculum with project-based units that encourage teamwork, design thinking, and creativity, and it offers both screen-free and tech-forward options in small group settings.

Journey to STEAM’s mission is to deliver rigorous, cutting-edge STEAM education that empowers children to become future creators and innovators, with every lesson integrating hands-on exploration, emerging technology, and collaborative projects. The program provides culturally responsive hands-on STEAM experiences in schools and organizations, tracks impact data with optional academic progress measurement, and includes career and community connections that provide early exposure to real-world career paths for elementary through high school students. An introductory 15-minute call option is available for those who want to learn more about the program’s offerings.
