Journey to STEAM

Journey to STEAM offers preschool STEAM, LEGO engineering, coding and robotics, and app building. The program includes after-school classes, summer STEAM camps, spring break STEAM camps, winter break STEM camps, and birthday parties with LEGO builds or robot activities.

Programs

• After-school at your child's school — Ages 3 to 12; preschool STEAM for ages 3 to 5, LEGO engineering for kindergarten through grade 2, coding and robotics for grades 2 to 5, and app building for grades 4 to 6 · Weekly after dismissal · Weekly LEGO engineering, robotics and coding classes on campus, right after dismissal. Small groups, grouped by age.
• Summer STEAM Camps — Ages 3 to 12, grouped by age · Five days a week; mornings or afternoons; half-day and full-day options · LEGO engineering, robotics and coding camps at parks, libraries and community sites across the metro.
• Spring Break STEAM Camps — Ages 3 to 12, grouped by age · During spring break; half-day and full-day options · A week off school, one big build at parks and community sites across the metro.
• Winter Break STEM Camps — Ages 6 to 12, grouped by age · During winter break; multi-day camps; morning and midday sessions listed · LEGO engineering, robotics and coding winter camps at partner sites.
• Birthday parties — A LEGO build party or a robot party at your house, run by a Journey to STEAM instructor.

About the provider

Journey to STEAM was founded in 2023, and the first class ran in December 2023. The leadership team includes Dr. Arielle Hammond, Ed.D., as Founder and CEO, Ryan Hammond as Co-founder, and Jessica Vorster as Program Manager. The program is Oregon COBID-certified as a minority-owned and woman-owned business, and it received PDX Parent Readers' Choice Top 5 in 2025 and 2026.

Every instructor is background checked and trained in child protection and mandatory reporting before the first class, with annual safety and first aid refreshers. Fewer than 10% of applicants are hired. Need-based scholarships are available in every program. No child is turned away because of finances. Families register online.
