Portland Fashion Institute Kids Classes

Portland Fashion Institute Kids Classes take place at Portland Fashion Institute, which offers beginner, intermediate, and advanced sewing classes as well as programs in apparel design, technical development, and fashion business. Kids classes are offered in the summer in July and August, and the summer kids classes are described as very popular and fill up fast. Portland Fashion Institute offers both “Classes for Fun” and “Classes for Careers.”

Portland Fashion Institute is described as Oregon's only private nonprofit fashion design college and Portland's only accredited fashion design college. It is a nationally accredited private nonprofit career institute of higher learning and is licensed by Oregon’s Office of Degree Authorization. Portland Fashion Institute was founded in 2002 as Portland Sewing with a beginning sewing class for four students. All of the instructors have apparel industry experience and are employed in the industry. Portland Fashion Institute is a nonprofit fashion design school with a mission to introduce creative people to the apparel skills they need to get a job or better job in the industry or to enjoy a more productive life. PFI accepts grants and 529 plans such as Oregon College Savings Plan funds and pursues contracts and affiliations with welfare, rehabilitation, and other workforce development programs.
