Spectra’s special needs preschool, gymnastics, and therapy programs target social-emotional development, social skills, communication, engagement, and confidence through movement and play. The programs use adaptive gymnastics, specialized speech therapy, ABA therapy, and preschool programs within a unique center carefully designed for neurodivergent children, teens, and adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. The staff uses positive reinforcement strategies to support gross and fine motor development and a behavioral approach in teaching to develop social and emotional communication skills on all levels. Services are described as a one-stop shop for a wide range of therapies and specialized programs and can provide complementary benefits within current therapy models such as speech, occupational therapy, and ABA, working closely with each family’s therapy teams upon request. Neurodiverse children in the program benefit from small class sizes, consistent cohorts, routines, teaching support, and loving staff, and new families are offered a free trial class. The summer camp includes 12 weeks of themed sessions.

The leadership team includes Owner Karissa Johnson; Executive Director and BCBA Emily Hargis; Preschool Director Lindsey Pinnick; and BCBA Devyn Plisik. The mission of Spectra Gymnastics states that the program began with a goal to provide a safe, fun, and supportive space where every child can thrive and grow through movement and has evolved into an inviting facility where families can access a variety of services, with a continued focus on children of all abilities.

Parent feedback describes staff as welcoming, supportive, attentive, friendly, fun, and knowledgeable about a wide range of special needs, with several parents noting positive experiences for children who are autistic, have ADHD, or have other special needs. Parents report long-term participation in several classes, use of birthday party services, and positive experiences with the Kinder Prep program and Fostering Friendships. One parent describes strong trust in Owner Karissa’s staff choices, and another highlights collaboration with a speech therapist named Ally, noting detailed parent counseling sessions, integration of movement with speech, and noticeable progress in their child’s language skills.
