VMAC Next Gen’s mission is to provide training and an environment that better supports dancers’ physical, mental, and socioeconomic needs so that dancers and the community will be more vibrant, creative, empathetic, and successful. VMAC Next Gen is a program of Portland Cultural Dance Collective (PCDC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to building community through movement, with a mission to make high-quality dance education accessible and affordable for families in Portland and beyond through scholarships, sliding-scale options, and community support. Donations to PCDC directly support youth scholarships and help expand access to dance for underserved families in the community. VMAC Next Gen focuses on creating a supportive and welcoming environment for students of all backgrounds, bodies, ages, and identities to dance.
Founders and Directors of VMAC Next Gen are Deblin McKnight (she/her), Carolina Mundarain-Rahima (she/her), and Jamal Rahima (he/him). The dance program is non-competitive and encourages organic growth of movement through continued practice and experience.
The program has a non-refundable policy with specific exceptions: if a child is sick or injured with a doctor’s note and excused from camp before it begins, families receive a 50% tuition credit for a future camp within the next 12 months. Injuries with a doctor’s note that occur during the week receive a credit for the remainder of the week once a child is dropped. Space permitting, students can transfer camp enrollment to a different week during the Summer of 2026 if requested at least three weeks before starting the current enrollment week. Late pick-up after 4:00 p.m. incurs a late pickup charge of $5 plus $1 per minute for each minute after 4:00 p.m.
