Camp Magruder Camps & Events offers a variety of camps and retreats for children, youth, teens, adults, families, grandparents, and those with special needs. The program hosts camp programs and registration events each year that draw more than 7,000 visitors. Camp Magruder is described as “a little slice of heaven between the Pacific Ocean and Smith Lake in Rockaway Beach, Oregon.”

As a ministry of the Oregon-Idaho Conference of the United Methodist Church, Camp Magruder Camps & Events is dedicated to creating quality Christian hospitality and learning environments. Its stated mission is to nurture people so they may grow in wisdom and healthy self-esteem, develop lifestyles of loving interdependence with each other and all of creation, and affirm and expand their faith in God and their service as Christian disciples within God’s world. The Board of Camp and Retreat Ministries of the Oregon-Idaho Conference of the United Methodist Church states a commitment to providing an environment free from discrimination and harassment based on race, age, creed, color, religion, national origin or ancestry, disability, sexual orientation, genetics, gender identity or expression. Camp Magruder partners with Northwest Regional Education Service District of Oregon to provide outdoor school to sixth graders nearly 20 weeks a year.
Parent and participant evaluations describe the experience as including music, people, workshops, and “the over-arching strength of faith and love of God that permeates everything and everyone.” Evaluation quotes also praise the food, kitchen staff, and service as “way above and beyond fabulous,” and describe the camp staff as friendly, competent, and working faithfully to make events a great experience. Multiple evaluations note that the camp staff “did a phenomenal job,” that the camp “looked the best that we have seen in many years,” and thank the staff for improvements and their work in keeping things running smoothly.
