Camp Magruder

Camp Magruder is a Christian camp and retreat program that serves children, youth, teens, adults, families, grandparents, and those with special needs. More than 7,000 people visit Camp Magruder every year for its various camp programs and registration events.

As a ministry of the Oregon-Idaho Conference of the United Methodist Church, Camp Magruder follows a mission dedicated to creating quality Christian hospitality and learning environments. Its stated goals are to nurture people so they may grow in wisdom and healthy self-esteem, develop lifestyles of loving interdependence with each other and all of creation, and affirm and expand their faith in God and their service as Christian disciples within God’s world. The organization emphasizes core values including Faith Formation, Volunteers, Excellence, Compassion, Leadership, Teamwork, and Care for the Earth. The Board of Camp and Retreat Ministries of the Oregon-Idaho Conference of the United Methodist Church has an OR-ID Conference Statement of Inclusion adopted in March of 2019.

Camp Magruder partners with Northwest Regional Education Service District of Oregon to provide outdoor school to sixth graders nearly 20 weeks a year. Camp evaluations describe the experience as including music, people, workshops, and a strong focus on faith and love of God. Multiple evaluations praise the food, kitchen staff, and service, and describe the camp staff as friendly, competent, and working hard to keep events running smoothly. Evaluations also note visible improvements to the camp over the years and express appreciation for the camp staff’s efforts.
