About
Mighty Mites is a beginner level soccer class where kids take part in Mighty Mites sessions led by Coerver® Staff. The program includes soccer activities in an outdoor setting on grass fields as part of each session. All players in Mighty Mites receive a CFC Mighty Mites t-shirt, and parents are encouraged to participate alongside their kids, with parents of players younger than 3 allowed to participate with parent involvement.
• Ages: 3–5 years old
• Schedule: One 45-minute session per week over an 8-week season
• Price: Program fee is $125 (includes Mighty Mites t-shirt); registration price will increase $25 after registration closes on August 18; refunds can be given minus a $25 administrative fee prior to the season starting
Mighty Mites is brought to families in partnership with Coerver® Coaching, which is described as “The World’s Number 1 Soccer Skills Teaching Method” and is internationally recognized as the world’s number one soccer skills teaching method. The program is run by Coerver® Trainers and led by Coerver® Staff, with Avi Hernandez serving as Program Director. Scholarships are available to those who qualify based on need, and to apply for a scholarship, families must provide a SNAP, TANF, WIC, or housing benefits document that shows the child’s name and active enrollment with dates within 12 months of the current date. Cleats are recommended because Mighty Mites takes place outside on grass fields, and there is no specific required training gear. Players will receive a colored Mighty Mites t-shirt for their 2025 fall season.
Capital FC was originally founded as Salem United Soccer Club in June 1993, with original SUSC by-laws adopted on July 6, 1993, and an official start-up date of September 1, 1993. In 2004, the club merged programs with the Cascade Surge to form Cascade FC, and in 2011 the board helped facilitate a long-term partnership between CFC and Coerver® Coaching. In the fall of 2013, Cascade FC began talks with the Portland Timbers, later acquiring the rights to the Timbers U23 USL2 Franchise in 2017, and the club and the Timbers agreed to end their formal partnership in 2022. Capital Futbol Club describes itself as more than a soccer club, “mas que un club de futbol,” and states its mission as developing excellent soccer players and responsible citizens, using soccer as a vehicle for enriching kids’ lives and using soccer as a tool to develop “championship citizens.” The club notes community involvement through its partnership with Coerver® Coaching, its role as one of the first Timbers Alliance partner clubs in Oregon, and its focus on using soccer as a way to create a diverse, strong, connected, and caring community. CFC reports that it has brought home its third National Title in 4 years, captured Oregon’s first-ever USYS Presidents Cup National Title, and that the Timbers U23 team were Western Conference Champions in 2021.
