About
Metro Gymnastics Center offers gymnastics classes, team gymnastics programs, Metro Dance Academy, preschool programs, Birthday Parties, Summer Camps, Mini-Nationals, and Skill Clinics. The program includes both recreational and team gymnastics options as well as dance and preschool activities.
• Ages: 3–18 years old
• Schedule: Class and office options are available Monday through Saturday, with some weekday hours starting in the morning and extending into the evening.
Metro Gymnastics Center was founded in March of 1990 and has grown from approximately 60 students to over 1,100 students. The facility has expanded from 11,000 square feet to a 21,000 square foot facility. It is located in Tigard, Oregon and has been serving the community since 1990.
Metro Gymnastics Center’s mission is to provide a fun, positive and self-esteem building environment for all children and adults who participate in any of its programs by teaching children that they have self-worth, keeping children safe and healthy, helping children to love to learn, and helping children to learn physical skills. Metro’s gymnastics staff is carefully selected and continually improving their professionalism through education and certification programs, and Metro Gymnastics Center provides staff training in a multitude of physical activities. All Metro staff are required to be certified in First Aid/CPR, Safe Sport, and Heads Up Concussion, and all staff are registered with the NCSI Background Check program.
The leadership team includes David Klein, President of Metro Gymnastics Center since its inception in 1990; Annette McIsaac, Office Manager and contact for Birthday Parties and Mini Movers information; Autumn Stone, Girls Recreational Gymnastics Director; Sara Halverson, Girl’s Team Head Coach and Team Director; Lucas Myers, Boys Team Head Coach; and Stephanie Morris, Metro Dance Academy Director. David Klein has been teaching gymnastics to children of all ages for the past 43 years, was a competitive gymnast at Grant High School from 1974–1978, and competed for Portland State University in 1978 and 1979. He has served USA Gymnastics as the Oregon State Chairman from 1989–1995, as a member of the Jr. National Coaching Staff from 1992–1995, as the Region 2 Chairman from 1995–2019, as the Chairman of the Men’s Development Program from 2010 to the present, and as the Chairman of the Men’s Scholarship Panel from 2007 to the present.
Metro Gymnastics Center has been designated as a Gold Medal Children’s Activity Center by Character Counts!. David Klein received the Frank Cumiskey Award, the highest honor for USA Gymnastics volunteers, in 2019. Metro Gymnastics Center uses the phrase “Where Kids Get a Jump on Life!” as one of its unique features.
