About

Danville AYSO Region 292 Youth Soccer offers youth soccer for children and teens through the American Youth Soccer Organization. Players in this program also have the opportunity to take part in the AYSO Soccer Fest Tournament.

• Ages: 4–18 years old

The American Youth Soccer Organization was founded in 1964 in California, and Danville AYSO began in 1981 under the leadership of Dr. Mike Ryan. The AYSO mission is to develop and deliver quality youth soccer programs where everyone builds positive character through participation in a fun, family environment based on the philosophies of Everyone Plays, Balanced Teams, Positive Coaching, Open Registration, Good Sportsmanship, and Player Development. The AYSO vision statement is to provide world-class youth soccer programs that enrich children’s lives. AYSO’s national guidelines state that every player on every team must play at least 50% of every game, and that each year new teams are formed as evenly balanced as possible. The program is open to all children between 4 and 19 years of age who want to register and play soccer, with no elimination try-outs and no players cut, and AYSO requires coaches to create a positive experience for every boy and girl. Board meetings for the region are held approximately four times per year.

The regional leadership team includes Sean Devitt (Regional Commissioner / Referee Administrator), Russ Cotner (Regional Treasurer), Chris Hill (Regional Coach Administrator), Tamara Roth-Sitko (Volunteer Coordinator / Child and Volunteer Protection Advocate), Marc Wislosky (Equipment Coordinator), Jamie Jordan (Regional Registrar), Kevin Mentrikoski (Uniform Coordinator), and an open Safety Director position. Nationally, AYSO notes that Michael Karon, President of AYSO, was recently recognized by Stack Sports for his impact in the world of sports volunteering. AYSO also reports several partnerships, including a partnership with BEEUP as the Official Fruit Snack Partner for the 2025–2026 season, a partnership with Chicago Public Schools to enhance youth sports programming, a partnership with the US Center for Mental Health & Sport focused on player and volunteer wellness, and a partnership with Northland Sports Alliance expanding soccer programming in Kansas City.
