USA Professional Karate Studio

USA Professional Karate Studio offers Kids Karate, American Freestyle Karate, sport kickboxing, American boxing, weapon's training and defense, Krav Maga, and Krav Maga FIT. The program also runs Karate Summer Camps, an Earn a Belt Camp, Bully Defense Workshops, and Karate Kids Board-Breaking.

Sensei George Mowod and staff teach American Freestyle Karate. USA Professional Karate Studio first opened its doors on Murray Avenue in Squirrel Hill in March 1981 and is described as the most established Karate studio in the greater Pittsburgh area. The studio states its mission as “Bettering Families Through Karate & Saving Lives Through Krav Maga” and is an official Krav Maga Worldwide Training Center. The children’s program includes a variety of specific classes for children based on age and experience level, and teaching methods use positive reinforcement, goal setting, and stripes, belts, merit patches, and rewards. The studio notes a friendly, respectful, family atmosphere with an emphasis on character development, physical fitness, and self-defense, and states that “Pittsburgh Loves USA Professional Karate Studio Since 1981.” Parents and students describe the studio as beginner friendly, organized, clean, and fun, and mention experiences such as board-breaking, flying side kicks, and weapons (sticks) practice, as well as instructors and classmates who care and are fun to train with.
