Luminari Summer Camps for Teens includes the “I Want to be an Ambassador!” camp, where participants meet with diplomats, visit embassies, engage in negotiation simulations, and explore real-world global challenges. • Schedule: The “I Want to be an Ambassador!” camp runs June 9–17, 2026.
Participants in the “I Want to be an Ambassador!” camp follow a mission statement that includes gaining tools to foster respect, collaboration, and understanding in their communities. The program is open to students in grades 7–11 in southwestern Pennsylvania. Luminari is a registered 501C3 organization. The Luminari Award is an annual scholarship competition that takes place between November and February and anchors the “I Want to be an Ambassador!” summer camp, and it challenges young people to reflect on diplomacy, leadership, and the power of communication in a global society. The Luminari Award competition includes an ESL Merit Scholar designation. Lumos is a bi-monthly newsletter that invites submissions of essays, short fiction, journalism, poetry, photography, cartoons, and illustrations, and for each Lumos issue, one winning submission receives a $25 Target gift card. Lumos aims to present a rich and vibrant online publication that opens the world of creative expression to a large reader base.
