West Austin Dance Academy

West Austin Dance Academy offers Lil Stars for ages 2–3½ with creative ballet and tap through creative movement, music, and props. It also offers Shooting Stars for ages 4–5 with ballet and tap using play-based technique and terminology, and Shining Stars for ages 5–7 with ballet and tap combo classes, plus hip hop for that age group. For ages 8+, the program includes Rising Stars recreational classes in every style, Super Nova advanced training, ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, hip hop, lyrical and contemporary, and Turns & Leaps.

Programs

• Lil Stars — Ages 2–3½ · Creative ballet & tap; ballet and tap through creative movement, music and props.
• Shooting Stars — Ages 4–5 · Pre-K class; ballet and tap with play-based technique and terminology.
• Shining Stars — Ages 5–7 · Ballet and tap combo class; hip hop is offered for this age too.
• Rising Stars — Ages 8+ · Recreational classes in every style.
• Super Nova — Ages 8+ · Most advanced training; most Super Novas also compete with West Austin Dance Company, but it’s not required.
• Ballet — Ages 5+ · Classical technique through barre and center work.
• Pointe — Ages 11+ · Teacher approval required; for dancers with extensive ballet training.
• Jazz — Around age 7 · High-energy technique across a variety of styles; interested 6-year-olds are welcome to try.
• Tap — Ages 5+ · Theater and rhythm tap for every level.
• Hip Hop — Ages 5+ · Quick, sharp, athletic and all about swagger.
• Lyrical & Contemporary — Ages 8+ · Ballet and jazz required; younger dancers with teacher permission.
• Turns & Leaps — Jazz technique and across-the-floor work.

About the provider

The program is led by Amy Reynolds. She is a fourth-generation studio owner, a former professional dancer, and a national competition judge. West Austin Dance Academy has 18 seasons of history, uses the mission statement “Trained to shine,” and notes that alumni dance on college teams across the country and in the industry. Every dancer performs in the spring recital at Lake Travis High School Performing Arts Center.

Enrolling year-round. No class commitment for the free trial. Dancers are automatically enrolled in Spring Recital except June and July summer classes; to opt out, tell the office in writing before November 15. Bullying is not tolerated. No gum, food or drinks in dance rooms; snacks are welcome in the break room. Dress code is specified for each class type.
