Shelton Summer is part of Shelton, which is the largest independent school for intelligent students with learning differences such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia and ADHD. Shelton offers some of its best classes and activities in the summer, with something for students from PreK through high school. Shelton Summer is connected with the Summer School Program through high school and the Shelton Scholars Program, a special Saturday and summer remedial program for students age 6 to adult who generally do not attend Shelton during the school year.

Shelton Summer is supported by 177 instructional staff members, who have an average of 18 years of teaching experience, including 75 staff with advanced degrees. Certified therapists from the Speech & Language Therapy Program serve children and adolescents through individual and group therapy, hearing and vision screening, and assessments on and off campus. The Teacher Training Program provides instructional training for educators, parents, and the community. During the 2024–2025 academic year, high school students at Shelton completed more than 10,052 hours of community service. Shelton’s mission states that it is a unique organization focused on improving the education of individuals with learning differences and that it admits learning-different students of any race, color, sex, religion, national and ethnic origin to its programs and activities without discrimination.
