About
Nature School of Fairview includes hands-on activities such as building forts and playing in mud. Children also spend time drawing, painting, and joining in songs, games, and storytelling as part of the program’s daily rhythm. The program uses a home-like classroom design with natural materials and a non-tech environment with limited use of media and minimal reliance on screens.
Nature School of Fairview follows a mission to protect the innocence of childhood, respectfully provide a dynamic natural environment to deepen the child’s relationship with nature, and encourage every student’s innate curiosity. Its approach includes immersive outdoor learning with hands-on experiences in natural settings and multi-age programs where children learn by exploring the natural environment. The educational philosophy combines experiential learning with nature and is inspired by Waldorf, Reggio Emilia, and Montessori philosophies. The curriculum is specifically designed to meet and exceed TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills standards) by using minimum paperwork, maximum outdoor nature-based learning, and zero testing. The program uses a Reggio Emilia approach with emergent curriculum, in-depth projects, multiple representations, and collaborative learning, and it emphasizes attentive listening and personalized learning focused on each child’s interests. Nature School of Fairview states a commitment to diversity and welcomes all backgrounds, ethnicities, and beliefs. It also offers community and family support through regular gatherings that encourage shared ideas, friendships, and mutual support among parents and educators.
