School Age Care (SAC) states that it provides out-of-school care for children and youth ages 6–12 in a safe, supportive, and engaging environment. Some SAC programs may also include kindergarten age children, and homeschool students may join in certain activities. The program is described as a fun place to be whether care is needed before school, after school, or for full-day summer camp, and it promotes healthy lifestyles with daily physical activity, nutritious snacks, and programs that support overall wellbeing. DFMWR, which oversees these programs, integrates and delivers Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation programs and services that enable readiness and resilience for a globally responsive Army.
