Friendswood Junior High, 302 Laurel Drive, Friendswood, TX 77546
About
Friendswood ISD Community Education After School & Summer Youth Programs offers after-school classes that students attend for about one hour following the regular school day. During the summer session, the program offers weekly daytime programs for school-age youths at Friendswood Junior High.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Three sessions during the year (fall, spring, and summer), with after-school classes typically lasting one hour and a summer session typically held during the month of June
Friendswood ISD Community Education has been part of the Friendswood community since 1975 with the theme “People Helping People for Lifelong Learning in the Friendswood Community since 1975.” The department’s stated goal is to offer a variety of classes and skills to students who are part of the wider Friendswood community, including those who are not part of Friendswood ISD, and to make these students feel included, understood, heard, and loved while they participate in learning opportunities. The fall and spring sessions serve children and adults of all ages, and being a resident in Friendswood ISD is not required to take or teach classes. Students go from their homeroom teacher straight to their Community Education class and are picked up at the conclusion of the class. The program is led by Director Kody Shepherd. If a class is canceled with at least 24 hours’ notice, the program offers a full refund, and once a class has begun, refunds are only offered in extenuating circumstances out of the participant’s control, handled through contact with Director Kody Shepherd.
