U.S. Softball Academy states its mission as “U.S. Softball Academy’s MissionBuilding Better Players.” The program is described as the nation’s largest network of softball camps, hosting in more than 100 cities across the country. It offers age-specific sessions with instruction tailored for each ability level, with sessions offered through age 18 in the winter/spring program and through age 14 in the summer program. The summer program focuses on development in hitting, pitching, and fielding in a fun-filled environment, and an afternoon session focuses on situational softball games, competition drills, and a Wiffle Ball World Series. An average session includes about 30 players with six or seven experienced and professionally trained coaches, and the program notes a low player-coach ratio. Players learn from a teaching staff of coaches from the local area, including some of the area’s top high school and college coaches, and the program describes itself as a National Program with a Local Touch that offers professional instruction to which young players don’t normally have access. Each location follows the same proven itinerary of drills.
