Camp La Junta is a boys’ camp with programs that are structured to grow with campers over time. The camp groups boys as Wranglers for grades 1–3, Cowboys for grades 4–5, and Tophands for grades 6–7, with an Advanced Campers program for boys who have finished the eighth grade and a Counselor in Training summer program as a transition from camper to counselor. Each camper is given the opportunity to choose his own schedule, try new experiences, strengthen interests, embrace independence, and develop lifetime skills.

Camp La Junta has over 90 years of tradition. The camp’s mission states that it provides young boys with the ultimate growing experience, promoting self-confidence and independence, and that its activities and programs are designed to instill a strong sense of independence and self-assuredness while building character, a sense of service, new life skills, and an appreciation of the outdoors. The mission also states that Camp La Junta believes every child is unique and benefits from a broad range of experiences in a positive environment and a strong connection with nature, and that the camp focuses on boys having fun, trying new things, learning about life, and learning about themselves.
Camp La Junta’s leadership team includes Scott Fineske, Camp Director/Owner; Katie Fineske, Camp Director/Owner; and Cindy Zastrow, Registrar. The camp is recognized by the Texas Department of State Health Services – Youth Camp Program. Camp La Junta provides a system of parent communication that includes daily newsletters, photos, a secure parent portal, video highlight films, Camp Director reports, and a written note from the camper’s counselors.
