Founded in 1926 by Ora Johnson, Camp Waldemar has operated for 100 summers and nearly a century as a place of growth, tradition, and lifelong friendships. Its stated mission is to provide a wholesome and fun atmosphere where each girl can grow spiritually, mentally, and physically in becoming her finest self. Camp Waldemar is a proud member of C.A.M.P. and is licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services. The camp has publicly supported Heaven’s 27 Camp Safety Act (SB 1) and is moving forward with plans to build new cabins in accordance with this law while continuing to work with the legislature.

Former camper Cannon describes Waldemar as an “incredible gift” during the years when she began as a young girl and left as a young woman, and she notes life lessons and friendships that she still carries. Camper Emmie states that camp has taught her greater independence, responsibility, self-confidence, strong friendships, and better teamwork skills, and that her Camp Waldemar experience has helped shape who she is now. Founder Ora Johnson wrote in 1926, “I believe in the girls of today. In this age of transition they have already accomplished much, but with greater possibilities opening every day for physical, mental, and moral growth, there is almost no limit to their achievements.”
