Summer Programs at Cistercian include rec camp, athletics camps, academic classes, and enrichment programs offered during the month of June 2025. Activities include hands-on science, games, Mass, prayer, puzzles, building, making, reading, soccer, basketball, baseball, tennis, strength training, math, English, Latin, art, drones, robotics, Cooking, Minecraft EDU, Board (not Bored) Games, Intro to Robotics, Summer Theater, Middle School Creative Writing, Plaster Sculpting, and Arduino.
• Ages: 8–18 years old
• Schedule: Options include full-day rec and sport + rec camps, morning sport + strength camps, and one- to three-week academic and enrichment classes with daily meeting times ranging from one to three hours per day.
Summer Rec Camp is described for enthusiastic boys in grades 3–6, and Summer Sport athletes in grades 7–12 develop team and individual skills in athletic clinics run by varsity coaches. Board (not Bored) Games has boys learn new games each day, and the winner keeps the game. Intro to Robotics uses Lego Mind Storm kits under the guidance of Cistercian’s award-winning Robotics club, and Summer Theater is described as half character development, half theater tech, and full-time fun.
Summer Prep academic classes are taught by Cistercian’s own faculty and alumni, and Summer Sport clinics are run by Cistercian’s own varsity coaches. Cistercian educates boys in grades 5–12 in an all-honors curriculum and offers an exceptional, proven, and all-honors academic program. Cistercian begins its 61st academic year under the leadership of Headmaster Fr. Paul McCormick, Assistant to the Headmaster Lisa Richard, Assistant Headmaster Gregory Novinski, Head of Upper School Fr. Lawrence Brophy, Head of Middle School Fr. Philip Neri Lastimosa, and Director of Summer Programs Michael Humphries.
Cistercian Preparatory School is rooted in the life and spirit of Catholic monasticism and offers talented and motivated young men challenging programs within a supportive community in preparation for college and life beyond, for the good of the whole person in service to God and neighbor. Its mission is to nourish, mentor, and expand the minds and hearts of lifelong learners by providing an exceptional, proven, and all-honors academic program, imparting the enduring values of Catholic education, and offering personal guidance and support with understanding and with love. Cistercian partners with the Junior World Affairs Council for events such as a talk with aviation pioneer Steven Udvar-Hazy, and Upper School students gather once a month during their Activities period to pick up trash in partnership with the local nonprofit Keep Irving Beautiful.
