Momentum Indoor Climbing Katy opened in 2017 as Momentum’s first ground-up build outside of Utah and includes 36,000 square feet of space with 29,000 square feet of climbing terrain, over 200 routes, over 120 boulders, a 15 meter speed wall, an auto-belay zone, and a full fitness gym. The stated mission is: “We created Momentum to inspire and empower climbers to reach their full potential.” Momentum hosts special events to bring their community together. All visitors, including spectators, must fill out a waiver before entering; rope climbers must be belay certified, and lead climbing requires a 35 meter rope, certification, and the ability to climb a 5.10 test route, with climbing shoes, harnesses, and belay devices available to rent at the front desk and a required safety orientation before bouldering. One reviewer described an instructor named Xander as patient, attentive, and supportive while teaching climbing and noted a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, another reviewer highlighted staff responsiveness to cleaning climbing holds, and a third reviewer described staff handling a birthday party booking mistake with kindness and professionalism.
