About
Laredo School of Contemporary Dance offers dance classes and hosts the South Texas Dance Team Combine, where dance athletes take classes and participate in a Q&A Session with Guest Faculty. During the South Texas Dance Team Combine, dance athletes take 15 hours of classes. The South Texas Dance Team Combine is described as the first of its kind in South Texas and the Valley and includes opportunities for dance athletes to connect with college dance team programs via informational booths.
• Ages: 1–18 years old
• Schedule: General class hours Monday–Friday 4:30–8pm and Saturday 9:30–3pm; South Texas Dance Team Combine held July 12–13 and July 26–27 with 15 total hours of classes
• Price: $245 for the entire South Texas Dance Team Combine event
Laredo School of Contemporary Dance opened its doors in August 2011. The program states that curriculum-based instruction is emphasized and that it provides pre-professional level training by qualified dance professionals with degrees in dance, ballet and contemporary dance certifications, and/or professional dance experience. Registration is open for current and new students ages 18 months through adult, and new students are welcome, with the first class free for new students.
The leadership team includes Combine Founder and LSCD Founding Artistic Director Jessica Zamarripa. Front desk staff include Elizabeth Rodriguez and Silvia Acosta. Combine faculty listed are Franco Paraiso (Hip Hop), Nici Kraft (Pom, Jazz, Turn Technique), Ava Wagner (Pom, Jazz, Turn Technique), and Caroline Buchhorn (Contemporary, Hip Hop, Jump Technique). The program’s mission states that it strives to provide students with a creative learning atmosphere that will nurture well-rounded dancers and that it is committed to maintaining high-quality dance training standards and providing students of all ages with the skills, discipline, and ethic needed to succeed in the field of dance.
