McKinney Art House

McKinney Art House offers art classes in drawing and painting, watercolors, mixed media, leather, metal art, mosaics, and general study in painting and drawing that includes composition and techniques in a variety of mediums. The program also offers pottery classes exploring clay handbuilding and wheel-throwing, a pottery wheel experience, weekly pottery classes, private pottery classes, private group pottery classes, and pottery studio membership. Families can choose from summer art camps, homeschool art classes, creative workshops, birthday art parties, private art events, private pottery wheel parties, fun art parties, corporate team building events, pottery wheel bachelorette parties, kids pottery parties, ladies night, and date nights.

McKinney Art House was established in 2005 and is described as a vibrant community art studio and an art collective with a community of artists, each running their own classes. Its stated mission is that its 132+ year old Historical downtown McKinney TX Art Village nurtures creativity, skill-building, and artistic confidence for all ages and experience levels. Many teachers are described as award winning, and some are nationally recognized in their specialized field. The pottery studio membership includes 24/7 access with dedicated pottery space for members. The program also offers a Summer Portfolio Intensive Program, homeschool art classes, and creative art parties for any age.

Teaching artist Cate Robbins holds a Masters Degree in painting from Texas Woman's University. Cate Robbins has been juried into local, regional, state and international art shows and has won numerous awards, including a first place blue ribbon at the 2016 Texas State Fair. Supply needs for Cate Robbins' class vary according to individual students’ curriculum needs; adults and teens provide their own supplies as needed for working in class and at home, and supplies are provided for children.
