Cordovan Art School Classes and Camps

Cordovan Art School Classes and Camps offers drawing, painting, pottery, clay handbuilding, wheel throwing, and mixed-media projects using watercolors, pencils, pastels, acrylics, graphite, charcoal, color pencil, and marker. Students work on activities such as character design, facial expressions, poses, clothing and hair design for characters, creating fantasy backgrounds, storytelling through art, creating portraits and stylized characters, and creating poster designs. Classes and camps also include designing, shaping, sculpting, and glazing ceramic creations, glazing and firing pottery in a kiln, making pinch pots, slab-built vases, animal sculptures, and doing painting, drawing, and crafts.

• Schedule: Multiple summer class options from June 1–6, 2026 through September 1, 2026, with some clay classes running through September 30, 2026; classes are offered on various days Monday–Saturday in time slots between morning and early evening.

Cordovan Art School opened in 2009. The manager is Terre Cisneros, and the founder’s message explains that the name Cordovan comes from the founder’s favorite color nui pastel used in college figure drawing classes. The school states that art classes and camps are for all ages and skill levels, including adults and homeschool students, and that Homeschool Art offers an educational, social, and fun classroom art experience with projects tailored to each student’s individual needs. The About page states that only the very best teachers work at Cordovan and describes a “smile-smile” policy in which everyone who enters is greeted with a smile, with the hope that they leave with a smile when class is over. The school notes that it is now enrolling for Summer Camps, that art camps include themed offerings such as K-Pop Art Explosion, Yay Clay!, Heroes | Villains | Dragons, and Animals with Attitude (Live Animals), and that a free trial class can be scheduled. The mission statement says Cordovan Art School tries to create an environment that is positive, uplifting, and enjoyable so that students can relax while they paint, draw, and learn the fundamentals of art and design, and that they hope students and teachers gain a deeper appreciation for the arts and each other. The mission statement also says they believe there is no shortcut to success and that growth and personal satisfaction come when people put their time and talents to work by learning, doing, and repeating the process.
