About
Steve & Kate's Camp offers a flexible day camp where campers choose their own activities and plan their own days. Parents can buy day passes or a Summer Pass, attend camp any time, and receive automatic refunds for any unused day passes or underused Summer Passes, with no additional or surprise fees and no processing fees for refunds. All-inclusive rates cover camp hours, snacks and lunch, and any activities that interest the child.
• Ages: 4–13 years old
• Schedule: Long camp hours, 8am–6pm, all included in the camp fee.
Steve & Kate’s Camp was created in 1980 as a response to traditional camps where kids participated in activities based on age rather than interests and parents paid non-refundable fees. The summer day camp program is for kids aged 4–12 and is designed for children entering PreK through 7th grade, and the camp generally accepts children aged 4 to 13 years old, with a camp age limit of 13 and the option for campers who turn 14 while attending to finish out the summer. Holiday camps for fall, winter, spring, and school breaks are for kids ages 4–12, and Steve & Kate's Camp also offers mentorship programs for children aged 14 and 15, with availability that may vary by location. All campers must be fully toilet trained, able to speak up for their needs, and able to get through the camp day without a nap, and no paperwork is required for age verification during registration.
The camp’s vision is carried out through VPs Kevin and Mike; Mike started as a counselor at Steve & Kate’s in 1998 and now leads the team, and Kevin is a former Steve & Kate’s camper turned operations staff member. Steve & Kate’s Camp has more than 70 locations according to the About page and more than 90 locations overall. The camp’s mission statement is, “Our work is about showing them what can be done.”
Testimonials describe the camp in various ways, including comments from Andrew Stanton, Director of WALL-E, Finding Nemo, and Finding Dory, Apple’s Hot News, Variety magazine, The Washington Post, and the Chicago Tribune.
