Nova Fencing & Archery Club

Nova Fencing & Archery Club offers Beginner Fencing classes, saber classes, epee classes, and Fencing Classes, along with a Fencing Camp and a Competitive Fencing Camp. The program also includes a Try Archery class, a six week Explore Archery course, Private & Trio Archery Lessons, Open Range Archery, Archery Tag, and Archery Tag Parties. Families can also choose from Summer Camps and After-School Programs.

Head Coach Greg Kaidanov leads the coaching staff, and he learned his coaching techniques from working alongside his father, US Fencing Hall of Fame Coach Emik Kaidanov. The coaching staff includes a member of the USA National Archery Team and the only fencing Maestros in Virginia. The club states that its mission is to instill a love of sport and to provide its athletes the opportunity to pursue their dreams, and it identifies its values as community, accountability, and excellence. Nova Fencing & Archery Club notes that its coaches, led by Coach Greg Kaidanov, work to create a friendly environment where fencers of all ages and abilities can find success, and that it provides a friendly, inclusive atmosphere where athletes can excel.

Nova Fencing & Archery Club reports that fencing is an Olympic sport with college opportunities and that fencers have a distinct advantage when it comes to college applications. The club states that fencing and archery are extremely safe and are ranked on par with badminton for safety, and that these are life-long sports where physique and age are not limitations. It describes fencing as a fast paced sport that builds confidence, fitness and quick decision making, and describes archery as building mental concentration and focus. The club also states that its community includes Fairfax, Arlington, Alexandria, and DC, and that its club community is like a family and a home away from home. The club motto is “The Club that Champions call home,” and it asks participants to treat the club and its equipment better than their own.

Nova Fencing & Archery Club lists many competitive results and recognitions, including: 2024 Gold Medalist, Pan American Championship, Vet 1 Women's Epee; 2024 four Top 20 finishes in USA Archery Indoor Nationals; 2023 Silver Medalist, Gator Cup, Women's Barebow; 2022 USA Archery TEAM USA member, Senior Women's Barebow Pan American Games; 2022 The Virginia Indoor JOAD Archery Championships Male Barebow U14 & U12 and Male Compound U17 State Records; 2022 USA Fencing Spirit of Sport, 2nd Quarter Recipient; 2022 USA Archery RED Program Participant; 2022 Virginia Indoor Archery Championships Male Barebow Cub State Record; 2021 USA Archery Club Excellence; 2020 Honorary World Team Vet 50 Women's Foil; 2019 National Champion Div 2 Men's Epee; 2018–2020 and 2022–2025 High School All-Americans; 2018–2025 High School All-Academic Team; 2018–2020 and 2022–2025 Junior Olympians; and 2019–2024 Top Eight Veteran Finishes in Women's, Women's Combined, and Men's Epee, Foil, and Saber. Nova Fencing & Archery Club states that it is a Safe Sport compliant organization and that new classes form monthly.
